We will explore gesture and body language of the female figure from ancient times, through a variety of cultures to representations of the female form in contemporary media eg fashion and advertising.

We will be making use of a concertina sketchbook throughout the course, sketching at the British Museum and collecting found images from a variety of sources.

This research and mixed media experimental work including drawing, collage and mono-printing will come together to create a series of images that will form a wall-based 'frieze' artwork at the end of the course, inspired by the artists such as Nancy Spero: her dynamic figures and theatrical use of space The final artworks will be photographed as documentation.
