Who should attend?
The Fire Safety Awareness Level 1 is designed for all staff, particularly new starters in any workplace, where a basic understanding of fire safety awareness is required. Learners who attend this course will be able to recognise that everyone has a responsibility of fire safety in the workplace, and how their actions and contribution can prevent the starting and spread of fires.

About this course
On successful completion of the course, the delegate will receive a Fire Safety Awareness Level 1 award. Dynamo Concise Training also offer continuous support once you have qualified, including information about changes in law, regular newsletters and discounted prices on further courses as well as refresher courses. This course has a credit level of 1 on the QCF framework.

I have worked in the security industry for over 20 years, in various disciplines, including Close Protection, Door Supervision and as a CCTV operative. I utilise a variety of training techniques to ensure every learner feels included within the classroom environment.
Course programme
- An understanding of fire safety and what to do in the event of an emergency.
- The main causes of fires in the workplace.
- The main costs of fires in the workplace for employers, employees and society.
- Your duties and responsibilities in relation to fire safety in the workplace.
- The role and responsibilities of fire wardens and other people who may be required to take action in an emergency.
- The key elements for effective fire risk management in the workplace.
- The principles of fire risk control.
- How the components of the fire triangle can be used to control fire risks.
- The difference between active and passive fire risk control measures.
- The basics of practical fire safety.
- The safe operating parameters for the use of portable fire fighting equipment.
- An outline of simple checks to ensure fire safety equipment is serviceable and safe to use.
The course is run at our training venue for 4 hours. This qualification is assessed through a 15 question, multiple choice examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes and to successfully pass you must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15.
