2. Course description This course provides you with an introduction to scientific investigative work of a forensic nature. Whilst the dominant subject theme throughout is scientific in nature, specialist and vocational units are also studied. These may cover topics such as forensic photography, criminological studies, psychology, forensic evidence collection and analysis and so on. The programme is supported by an enrichment programme that may include visits to a variety of laboratories, court buildings and public service establishments, along with the opportunity to engage with a number of guest speakers and regular lecturers from a variety of relevant specialist fields. The specific units studied during the first year of the course provide a comprehensive foundation of forensic knowledge, and include: Forensic Evidence Collection and Analysis; Fundamentals of Science; Working in the Science Industry; Criminal Psychology; Using Mathematical Tools in Science; and Forensic Photography.
