A good command of English is required. This is an entry level IT programme designed for people with little experience of using a computer. This course is not a FL2 or FL3.

This beginners course is designed to progress onto the Further IT Skills course, leading to a national Level 2 qualification.
What is the course about?
This course is targeted at learners with little or no computer skills or knowledge and aims to develop basic skills in operating the computer and using appropriate Microsoft Office programmes.
What are the course outcomes?
The course is suitable for learners who wish to acquire basic computing skills to assist in an existing job, or to use with home computer. There will be an emphasis on word processing.
Word processing will cover: simple file management; create a range of word processing documents; enable you to format text, change page layouts, add tables, borders, numbered lists, move and replace entries, etc.
Email will cover sending, receiving, replying and deleting emails, and also build up your contact list within an email box.
Internet will cover: how to assess and carry out searches on the internet.
Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded a College certificate.

·Access to the internet outside the classroom

No formal assessment. Your tutor will assess your progress throughout the course.
