2. Course description Summary: This programme bridges the gap between domestic cooking and the skills and knowledge needed for employment within the catering industry. Course description: The course covers independent living skills including: - personal nutrition - hygiene - health and safety - budgeting You will also take part in practical cookery workshops and take functional skills classes in English, maths and ICT. Objective: This course is designed for students who need additional support and may have a range of learning and/or physical disabilities. The course will develop the skills needed for independent living and will ensure learners are able to prepare, cook and present meals for a variety of occasions. Assessment: Practical work is continuously assessed and the theory element is designed to suit the learner's needs.
