About this course

1. Minimum age: UK/EU students - 16 years old, International students - 18 years old •
2. Qualification: Three GCSE passes (C or Above) / One A Level (Grade E or above), OR Advanced GCE in Applied Art and Design / AS GCE in Art and Design •
3.English Proficiency: IELTS 5.0 or equivalent (with one component at 4.5) •
4. Alternative: For mature students with few or no formal qualifications must apply with details of age, work experience, including any voluntary work and any other relevant experience gained since leaving school. Portfolio of work relevant to the area of study.

What I would highlight: This course is great. Learning drawing techniques is one of my favorite memories at LCCA and I also enjoyed being taught how to create a costume using geometric shapes cut out of cardboard paper. I remember it took me a lot of work by the result was simply amazing.

What I would highlight: I have learnt a lot from the tutors. They are real mentors. The lectures helped me to get into the numerous techniques of drawing systems –it was interesting and exciting. I really enjoyed a session where we did a cubism with a rotating still life.

Course programme

Course Programme


Comprehensive introduction to art and design subject areas through studio workshops, seminars and lectures. Students will follow a programme of drawing, exploratory, mixed media to develop practical skills and research methods. Exploratory and pathway units will be consolidated to propose and implement a personal Final Major Project.


Progression


Candidates may progress to an HNC/HND or a BA Degree in subjects such as, Computer Arts and Design, Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion, Illustration, Fine Art, Interior Design, Animation, Textile Design, Visual Communication, or 3D Design.


Foundation students have gone on to study at a wide range of top UK universities, both in and outside of London, including:

  • UAL (including Central St Martins, College of Fashion, Camberwell, College of Communication)
  • Goldsmiths University
  • Edinburgh College of Art
  • Kingston University
  • Arts University Bournemouth
  • University of Lincoln
  • Leeds College of Art
  • Manchester Metropolitan University

Students have taken places in European universities in Berlin and Amsterdam.
