What can I progress to?

Extra Curricular Activities
All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.
What is the course about?
This is a mixture of theory and practical experience.
This course is an introduction into caring for children and not a working qualification. Students will study human development, learning through play and child safety. Both subject and personal tutorials are included in the course programme.
Students will also spend 1 day per week working in a practical setting with children to further develop their understanding. Our placement officer will arrange these placements during the course induction.
Successful students will be able to progress to the Level 2 Award, Certificate, Diploma in Child Care & Education which is a nationally recognised vocational qualification at Level 2 and a licence to practice as an assistant in childcare. Alternatively students may chose to progress to the BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care.
Additional Studies
Students will have the opportunity to retake GCSE English or Mathematics or additional studies as available.
What are the course outcomes?
How will you be assessed?
