About the Course
The course involves the study of two modules,
Making Sense of Data and Managing Money which have been written to allow you to become competent with a wide range of mathematics topics that include:
• Number work
• The use of basic formulae
• The use of statistics, diagrams and graphs
• Everyday money problems
• Appropriate use of ICT for assignments
If you have previously experienced difficulties with mathematics, this course offers you a second chance. Students who have completed the course have told us how much they have enjoyed this new approach to mathematics.
Course Aims
• To give you a sound knowledge of the mathematics needed to cope with the demands of the modern world.
• To develop confidence in using mathematics.
What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is by one examination paper at the end of each module, for which you will be given a data sheet two weeks beforehand.You will use this data sheet to answer the questions in the exam paper. There will also be six short assignments for each module, many making use of computer spreadsheets. The exam papers are 50% of the assessment and the assignments are the other 50%.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
If you achieve grade A or B you can go on to enrol on a GCSE Mathematics course.
