Your Course
This is a course for those with previous knowledge who wish to practise their spoken French at a more sustained level.
The course employs a communicative approach and aims to develop in particular the skills of listening and speaking in the foreign language. It enables students to understand and use French effectively for purposes of practical communication, to show an understanding of French grammar and to offer considerable insights into the culture of French-speaking countries. Reading and writing are treated more as passive skills.
Learning Outcomes
Each week a theme will be used as a focus, so by the end of the 10 week module you will have been given the opportunity to:
· Discuss and respond in French on these issues to your optimum level.
· Manipulate the language accurately and choose appropriate structures.
· Develop confidence in both expression and vocabulary.

Your Tutor
Patrick De Backer is a graduate of Queens' College Cambridge. He studied politics in Paris and completed a PGCE. He has taught French and Russian at A level and been an examiner in both. He was Head of Languages in two local schools. He especailly enjoys the role of 'animateur' at evening classes.
Day and time: Monday 7-9pm
Start date: 18th January
Number of sessions: 10
Tuition fees: £95
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
Half term:
Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
