WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This course aims to provide learners with a range of vocational and academic experiences to inform their future career progression. At the end of the course learners will have developed a range of skills to enable them to progress to other programmes at either level 2, 3 or into employment.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
This programme has been developed to meet the needs of the individual learners and will vary accordingly. There will be a number of core areas of the programme to ensure that learners continue to develop their skills in the areas of literacy, numeracy and information technology.
Learners will have the option to take appropriate GCSE subjects where they have already attained a grade D in the subject. In addition there will be a range of vocational options including Business Retail and Administration, Media with Art & Design, Health & Social Care and Hospitality Travel & Tourism. To achieve the full diploma you need to complete 8 units in the vocational options.
The College is committed to you studying for national qualifications in Maths, English and ICT within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life.
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
All learners in the college are expected to attend classes and hand in set work and assignments within deadlines.
In order to complete the work learners will also need to work in their own time.
WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
On completion of the course you will achieve a BTEC Introductory Diploma in Vocational Studies.
Dependant upon the individual and the qualifications undertaken, the range of qualifications available include:
- Basic Skills Award
- Modules from BTEC programmes
- GCSE's
- You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
