Course Description
By spending three days per week in college, one day private study and one day a week in work placement, you will learn the theory of physical, social and emotional development of individuals within the care sector.

Your work placement can be part-time employment provided it meets with course requirements and your employer is willing to liaise with college staff. College tutors will arrange placements in a range of settings e.g. primary schools, residential and nursing homes, private day nurseries or with local authority providers.

  • Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care
  • Communication and Individual Rights within the Health and Social Care Sectors
  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Individual Needs within the Health and Social Care Sectors
  • The Impact of Diet on Health
Additional Qualifications Level 2 Award in Effective Listening Skills, Key Skills IT, GCSE Maths and English if grades less than C.

Course Length and Study Pattern
One year full-time. you will spend three days per week in college, one day private study and one day a week in work placement.

Career Progression
Employment
Level 3 quali�cation for example a BTEC National Diploma or Certficate in either Care or Health Studies or a new vocational area. (Applicants to the BTEC National programmes must have GCSE Maths and either English Language or Literature at grade C or above in addition to their BTEC First at Merit of Distinction level).
Apprenticeship.

Work Experience
One day a week. One placement will be of at least 60 hours. Placements are found by college and are in a range of Health and Social care settings.

Assessment
Assessment is continuous, by completion of assignments based on the course units.

Trips and Enrichment Activities
You will be encouraged to participate in college and divisional enrichment activities.
