CACHE Entry Level Certificate in Preparation for ChildcareDuration
One Year full time

Attendance
You are expected to be available to attend College for 3 days a week 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Course description
The aim of the course is to learn how to care for young children in the home and how to be a good parent.

Course Structure
The programme consists of 3 units. Each unit has three tasks; you must pass all the tasks to gain the full certificate.

Units to be studied include:

Pregnancy and the responsible parent

Caring for Young Children 0-3 years 11 months

Play and learning in the home 0-3 years 11 months.

Basic skills in Numeracy and Literacy are an integral part of the course.

Course Assessment
These assignments have hand in dates set by the exam board which must be strictly adhered to.

  • Uniform must be applied for.


Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you.

Details will be provided at the time of interview. You will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience with electronic babies and take part in a work placement.

Course Progression
Cache Foundation Award in Caring for Children Level 1.

Course Career Prospects
This qualification does not qualify learners to practice in the workplace, however after further study you can progress into careers with children such as Nursery/Playgroup Assistant, Nanny, Play Worker and Teaching Assistant.
