This is a 1 year course.

Course Description
The course provides the opportunity for you to develop basic skills in caring for children. You can use these skills as a basis for further training in childcare.
There are 7 units of study:
Unit 1 - Personal development
Unit 2 - Human growth and development (birth to old age)
Unit 3 - Food and nutrition
Unit 4 - Health and safety practices in the home and group setting
Unit 5 - Care of children
Unit 6 - Play and pratical activities
Unit 7 - Orientation to work
The course also includes working in a childcare setting (this is arranged by the college).
A range of additional qualifications including Emergency First Aid are also studied.

How is the Qualification Achieved ?
You will need to pass assignments for each unit, receive a satisfactory report from your placement and pass a multiple choice question at the end of the course.

On Successful Completion of this Course
You may move onto the Certificate in Child Care & Education Level 2.
