Course Length:
34 weeks, 3 days per week. The college year runs from September to July.

Course Summary:
There will be a combination of practical and theory sessions which will enable you to gain good practical skills with underpinning job knowledge of Carpentry and Joinery. You will work towards achieving 6 units of competence throughout the year which will culminate in an end of Year City & Guilds examination.

Unit details:
- Handle and store resources
- Contribute to work relationships
- Contribute to providing working platforms
- Preparation and use of portable power tools
- Maintenance and use of woodworking hand tools
- Use basic wood jointing techniques

You will also complete Functional Skills qualifications in Numeracy and Literacy as part of your course and take part in group and one to one tutorials, and enrichment activities.

Course Details:
This course is full-time. You will be given details of course materials, stationery and the health and safety equipment you will require when you enrol on the programme.

Career Progression:
Upon completion of the programme you will progress to the Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery Intermediate Diploma.

Other Information:

Students are required to provide steel toe capped boots and overalls for practical work.
