This programme is aimed at young people aged between 16-18 who are interested in gaining technical expertise and employability skills. Attending college and having a work-placement with a local employer will help you to gain valuable work experience and skills.

What will I learn?
Whilst in College you will gain the knowledge and understanding which will help you to achieve a Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery. You will also gain practical experience in the college workshop which is transferable into the workplace. As the course progresses you will be working with an employer for two, three or four days per week. This will give you the opportunity to show the employer your willingness to learn and your employability skills. Developing your interpersonal skills will form part of this course and will help you to develop and improve both your verbal and written communication skills. You will also be able to take part in team building exercises through taking part in the enrichment activities we run in college.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through observations where applicable, sit online examinations and build a portfolio of evidence collected from both college and the workplace. If you require additional support there are a number of ways we can help you to achieve your goals

What can I do after the course?
Once you have completed the Programme-Led Apprenticeship there is the opportuntiy for you to progress onto the Apprenticeship programme.
