Is this course for you
This course is for those wishing to gain a basic skill in carpentry. It will prepare you for an apprenticeship within the construction industry, or allow you to continue onto the Level 2 Construction Diploma in Wood (day release).

What will you study
This course specialises in developing wood trade practical skills involving site work, carpentry and joinery. You will also study: Health and Safety * Handling and Using Materials * Working Relationships * Use of Power Tools. In addition you will be required to study functional skills in: Improving your own Learning * Application of Number * Communications * Information Technology.

How will you be assessed
Assessment will be carried out throughout the course by assignments, end of unit tests, end of course examination and practical tasks. You will be expected to build portfolios of evidence for construction and show good compliance to Health and Safety practices throughout the course.

What can you do after course
Successful completion of this course can lead to you enrolling on the Level 2 Construction Diploma in Wood (day release), joining the apprenticeship programme or gaining employment in the construction industry as a trainee carpenter.

You will need to equip yourself with protective footwear and overalls before you start the course.
