WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
You will learn the basic skills and requirements for a career in the construction industry. The course covers the skills and knowledge aspects for employment in the carpentry field.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study and achieve a level 1 BTEC Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment. There are two units to complete. The first unit will consist of developing skills and working safely in construction where theory work is expected. The second unit will be developing joinery skills which will be practically based. There will be continuous assessments to help you gain your qualifications throughout the duration of the course.
On your course you will have a tutorial period, which is designed to support your learning and assist your progress. In addition there are activities to enrich your experience both in your chosen trade and your student life.
The college is committed to you studying for national qualifications in Maths and English within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life.
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
The course requires 15 hours per week study, plus any additional support workshop sessions identified. You will need to attend all the timetabled classes and tutorial/ support sessions. If your attendance falls below 80% you may not be able to complete your studies.
The time table should be:
