Course Summary:
The full-time level 3 Childcare and Education Diploma at Nescot is a 2-year course which will give you full training in the care of children from before birth to their 16th birthday.

Course Details:
You will need enthusiasm, commitment and a real commitment to caring for children on this Level 3 course. Two days every week are spent with children, learning on the job under the guidance of qualfiied staff.

There are three parts to this qualification - the Award, the Certificate and the Diploma. To achieve the level 3 Diploma (the full qualification), you must first achieve the Award and the Certificate. You will need to complete the Level 3 Diploma in order to be able to practice as an Early Years practitioner.

The Award
Unit 1: An Introduction to working with children
Unit 2: Development from conception to age 16 years

These units are assessed by a multiple choice question paper and an assessment task.

The Certificate
Unit 3: Supporting children
Unit 4: Keeping children safe
Unit 5: The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner working with children.

These units are assessed by external assessments and a short-answer test based on a seen case study.

The Diploma
Unit 6: Promoting a healthy environment for children
Unit 7: Play and learning in children's education
Unit 8: Caring for children
Unit 9: Development of professional skills within children's education (Practical training 750 hours).

Three optional units.
These units are assessed by external assessments and a research task.

Four GCSE's at grades A-C including English Language

Career Progression:

Qualified Level 3 Diploma workers work either alone or in partnership with other specialists. They also work closely with the parents, carers and families of the children. Career opportunities are exciting. Some students choose to go straight on to further study at university.
