Course content:
This course is designed to provide specialist work-related qualification in the construction sector. It gives learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment. The course also provides career development opportunities for those already in work and also meets the entry requirements for continued study at HNC and Degree Level.
This course will provide learners education, training and the application of knowledge that are directly relevant to the changing needs of construction employees, employers and professions; To provide learners with enhanced knowledge and understanding to the key issues of sustainability and health, safety and welfare in the construction and built environment industries; To develop learners knowledge, skills, understanding, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for career development.

Course Structure:
The course consists of 12 modules that is delivered in 2 years; 6 modules per year. The programme is delivered on a part-time (one day/week) and the modules include: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment; Construction and the Environment; Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment; Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment; Construction Technology and Design in Construction and Civil Engineering; Building Technology in Construction.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
The process of assessment uses a range of assessment methods, including assignments, project work, practical works, presentations and examinations.

Higher National Certificate leading to graduate studies or employment.

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
The tutor will advise you about any materials costs.
