About this course

Formal qualifications in English are required i.e. GCSE grade A-D or Key Skills level 1. You should be 16-19 years old with a general level of education and an interest in an holistic lifestyle.
This course requires a formal interview prior to enrolment which will be arranged on reciept of your completed application.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Holistic Therapies have been developed to treat the 'whole person' rather than concentrating on one specific ailment. This course is designed to give an introduction to various complementary therapies including Aromatherapy and Reflexology and to provide a platform from which to access higher level holistic and complementary therapies.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study the following:

Support employment standards
Support Health & Safety and Security in the workplace
Introduce the client to holistic therapies
Assist the holistic therapist
Prepare for and provide body massage
Provide massage with aromatherapy blends
Explain and provide zone therapy
Related anatomy & physiology
Holistic facial

The College is committed to you studying for national qualifications in Maths, English and ICT within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life.

WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will study for approximately 17 hours a week in college with further coursework to be undertaken outside of class.

The 2009 time table is to be advised.

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
On successful completion you will gain a level 2 VTCT Certificate in Holistic Therapies and a Health & Safety Certificate.

You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.

3r104-09 Course fees 0 16-18 year olds, 400(140) 19 years and over

There is a natural progression onto the full-time City and Guilds level 3 Diploma in Complementary and Holistic Therapies and other part-time complementary therapy courses.
