Course Description:
The Diploma in Hair and Beauty Studies offers a unique blend of academic and vocational learning. This exciting, stretching and relevant Diploma is suitable for those who enjoy the challenge and stimulation of developing knowledge and skills in a real world environment.

Course Content:
Some of the topics covered will include:

• introduction to hair and beauty sector
• creating a positive impression within hair and beauty
• hair styling
• skin care treatments
• hand and nail care services
• personal appearance, style and wellbeing within hair and beauty
• careers within the hair and beauty sector, and related industries.

Diplomas are available at Foundation, Higher and Advanced levels, and are designed for young people between the ages of 14-19 who are interested in exploring the potential of hair, beauty and spa industries. They are not vocational qualifications, which train young people to progress directly into skilled jobs as hairdressers or beauty therapists, but they deliver education in the context of the hair and beauty sector, bringing learning to life in a way that will enthuse and motivate young people.

Assessment:
You will be continually assessed throughout the Diploma and will be encouraged to become independent learners. You will undertake exams in English, Maths and IT, which form compulsory units of any Diploma. All students will be required to complete a project to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have acquired.

The Diploma is designed to broaden your horizons and give you a wide range of options. It could lead to university, training or a job with further training.
