Diploma in Painting and Decorating Level 1

What will I be learning?

You will receive training in the form of practical exercises in the workshop and carrying out specialist work around the college in a realistic working environment and will be encouraged to work at your own pace towards units that include scaffolding, efficient working practices, preparation, painting and paper hanging. Key skills are an integral part of the programme.

How will I learn?

In the early weeks of the course you will build up your own skills and are introduced to materials and techniques, which will be developed throughout the course. You will be assessed in a practical work based setting on your ability to carry out a wide range of practical-skilled tasks. To show your skills and understanding there will be end test questions.

What else might I want to know?

You will be required to provide suitable clothing for practical workshop activities and footwear and white overalls must be worn whilst carrying out practical work. All other equiment will be provided. You will also need to provide basic stationery equipment and may also be required to contribute towards costs for any trips or visits that take place.

What can I do afterwards?

On successful completion of the level 1 Diploma you could further your academic studies by progressing on to the level 2 Diploma
