Developed in response to the industry's request for broader training to improve the skills, knowledge and understanding of the future workforce this course provides a basic introduction to plumbing.

What will I study?
Students will learn how to cut, bend and install pipe-work made out of various materials as well as studying:
· Health & Safety
· Basic Principles and Processes - Maths and science associated with plumbing, how copper pipes are joined together. Properties of water and different types of water
· Cold Water Systems - Introduction to water systems - How the water is distributed around the house
· Hot Water Systems - Introduction to water systems - How hot water is heated and distributed around the house
· Above Ground Drainage and Sanitation - (waste water removal from the property) how this happens and the faults and problems associated with this
· Customer Relations and Environmental Awareness - a range of environment factors and issues which affect your job. Dealing with your customers, putting protection on floors etc, ensuring you deliver a good service.
Students may also be required to study Key Skills

What next?
Students who successfully complete Level 1 may progress on to the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Plumbing at Selby College.
