General overview
The course addresses the fashion industry's need for skilled individuals. It creates opportunities for students to experience the realities of the fashion industry and the career options available to them.
You will build expertise in all aspects of the design process within an industrial context. Fashion process skills are underpinned by knowledge and understanding of contemporary and professional issues.
The curriculum is designed around challenging and inspiring briefs. Most projects are externally set by the industry, competitions, or negotiated. Studies include design, production processes, CAD CAM, contextual studies, professional practice.
The first year will provide a broad range of learning activities designed to stimulate your creative, practical, critical and professional development.
During your second year you will be encouraged to become increasingly independent and develop advanced skills relevant to your career aspirations.
Emphasis is placed on real work experience and a feature of the programme is the network of employers and practitioners who act as visiting speakers, provide live projects, placements and visits to workplaces.
