Course Description
This is a practical based course which focuses on practical cookery and customer service. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills whilst preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods. You will work as part of a team, alongside our experienced and friendly staff, to prepare dishes and other products, such as bread, pastries and cakes for the menu in our Brasserie restaurant.
You will benefit from food demonstrations, practical cookery sessions and visits to catering establishments such as restaurants, hotels and patisseries.
You will require a kitchen and restaurant uniform and a strong pair of black shoes to wear for practical sessions in the kitchen and restaurant. You will be required to contribute a small amount towards the cost of bus hire and entry to catering exhibitions.

Employment in one of the many types of establishment in the Hospitality Sector
Work Experience
All students will have one months work experience at the end of the course.
You will have a wide choice of different establishment to choose from including: hotels, restaurants, cafes, Pub restaurants, schools, contract catering and many others
Assessment
Practical assessments and knowledge tests in all of the units
Trips and Enrichment Activities
A wide range of trips and visits including:
Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate and The Coniston Hotel, Coniston Cold.
Catering exhibitions and trade shows within the UK eg Good Food Show, Birmingham.
Talks and visits throughout the year from professional chefs and catering managers.
