Full Time Foundation Certificate in Engineering Level 1
Course Description:
A full time course suitable for anyone wishing to experience a wide variety of engineering activities relevant to industry. Training is at foundation level and of a predominantly practical nature. The aim is to provide both experience and knowledge on which to base future career and associated course decisions.
Course Content
The course is divided into three separate units which are:
Certificate in Engineering Level 1 including:
- Unit 601: Introduction to Engineering
- Unit 601: Fitting
- Unit 609: Welding
Key Skills Level 1
NVQ PEO Level 1
Units are divided into underpinning knowledge requirements and practical activities. Teaching is of a supportive nature which includes user friendly continuous assessment and knowledge based tests, these encourage and enable students to achieve the required level of competence.

Assessment and Progression:
Successful completion gives a sound preparation for training or employment in production or maintenance, and/or progression to City & Guilds 2800 II Certificate in Engineering & NVQ Performing Engineering Operations II.

This is a full time one year course.

Fees:
Students on a full-time course of 12.5 hours a week who are aged under 19 on 31 August are entitled to free tuition and no exam fees provided they are European Union Citizens. Students who are currently in Year 11 and will be aged over 16 on 31 August may be entitled to an Education Maintenance Allowance paying up to £30 per week.
Mature students who are in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to full or partial remission of fees. The regulations on student finance are detailed and subject to change. Individual information and advice may be obtained from Student Services staff at Lincoln College. Please contact Reception to make an appointment.
