Suitable For

The BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course and is equivalent to 4 GCSEs Grades A* - C. You learne by completing projects, practical tasks and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Course Content

You will take three core subjects:

• Engineering skills for vehicle repair
• Essential working practices in vehicle technology
• Vehicle electrical & electronic principles.

You will also take six specialist units:

• Routine vehicle maintenance
• Vehicle component removal & refitting techniques
• Vehicle engine system principles
• Vehicle fitting operations - brake systems
• Vehicle fitting operations -exhaust systems
• Vehicle wheels, tyres, steering & suspension

This qualification helps you to progress on to higher level qualifications such as a BTEC National Certificate in Engineering or A Levels. Alternatively, it can lead to a range of Apprenticeships in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Engineering.
