Is the course for me?
The First Diploma In Media (Moving Film Image) provides the base knowledge & develops practical skills for learners wishing to enter a career in the Media industry or progress to the National Diploma in Media Production. Learners on the first Diploma in Media develop an understanding of the media industries, an understanding of media audiences as well as gaining skills in all aspects of moving image production.

What will I learn?
The course focuses on the audio-visual media (film, video, television) and also develops ICT. Through a variety of approaches you will learn how the media industry is structured, the different jobs within the industry, how to research productions, how to analyse media audiences, how to analyse media texts, and how to produce various video projects, including factual, music videos and experimental film projects.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is based on the achievement of specific unit outcomes, learners must meet all of the learning outcomes to pass a unit. Work is assessed in a variety of ways including, presentations, reports and essays, audio/visual statements and the practical work that is produced. There is flexibility offered on how work is assessed, individual learning styles and needs are taken into account, the emphasis is allowing learners to achieve their best possible grades.

What can I do after the course?
Progress to the National Diploma is recommended where learners will further develop their understanding of the industry and their production skills. The level 3 course helps to prepare learners for Higher Education or employment within the industry.
