Entry Requirements
Students are expected to have gained at least 5 passes in GCSE at A to C or have passed a BTEC First Certificate/GNVQ (Merit or Distinction and GCSE English preferred) or have equivalent experience or qualifications.

Course content
This course is a full-time programme. The emphasis is on video production and will include projects such as documentary and pop-promo productions, experimental video work and short film productions.
As well as the practical productions, students will gain knowledge of the media and film industries through critical and theoretical studies. The course is assessed through units of coursework these may include:
Research Techniques for the Media Industries.
Pre-Production Techniques for the Media Industries.

Working to a Brief in the Media Industries.
Critical Approaches to Media Products.
Understanding the Television and Film Industries.

Factual Programme Production Techniques for Television.
Corporate and Promotional Programme Production.

Advertisement Production for Television.
Designing Idents for Television.

How Will I Be Assessed?
Students will be assessed throughout the course through practical assignments. Each assignment will be given a mark of Pass, Merit or Distinction. These marks will contribute to your final grade. All assignments are portfolio based.

What Could I Do Next?
The course is designed so that students gain practical and professional experience that will enable them to enter employment within the moving image industries, or progress onto Higher Education.

There will be the opportunity for students to attend various trips and workshops. This might entail some limited additional expense.
