Is it right for me?
The National Certificate in Countryside Management is a one year course that leads to a qualification equivalent to two A levels. The course provides a full introduction to working in the countryside for those seeking to retrain.
What qualifications will I need?
Four GCSEs at Grade C or above preferably including Maths and English or equivalent. A First Diploma at Distinction or an NVQ level 2. Mature applicants who lack these qualifications will also be considered. You will need to demonstrate a keen and active interest in the countryside.

A period of work experience is required which needs to be completed during the course.
What is involved?
Taught at Kingston Maurward College for 34 weeks. Lectures, practical instruction, demonstrations and visits.
Where will it take me?
Practical career on a rural estate, country park, nature reserve or with a local government authority.

- Tractor Driving Certificate (NPTC);
- Brushcutter certificate:
- Pesticide Application (PA1/PA6)
- First Aid at Work
What materials are required?
Practical clothing, overalls, waterproofs, steel toe'capped safety boots, basic stationery. Tetanus protection is recommended.

Entry into National Diploma in Countryside Management, Arboriculture and Woodland Management.

Mixture of assignment, identification tests, and practical assessments.
