Course Description:

This course is aimed at those who have a particular career in mind or who want to find out more about a certain sector. They combine complementary sectors so that you get the opportunity to investigate related areas that might interest you.

Course Content:
This qualification has been designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge for employment within the dynamic interactive media industry.

OCR National
Mandatory core units:
  • ICT Skills for Business
  • Web Page Creation
  • Desktop publishing
  • Spreadsheet skills.

iMedia
One core unit:
  • Exploring the Digital Worlds.

You will also take four subject-specific units:
  • Design and Test Computer Games
  • Introduction to Digital Imaging (creating an Animated Object)
  • Digital Sound & Video
  • Interactive Media Presentation.

Assessment:
In the National qualification all units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by OCR. There are no timetabled exams for this qualification. In iMedia, all units are locally assessed via either OCR-set or centre-devised practical assignment.

Next Steps:
You chould choose to take another level 1 qualification in an alternative sector, progress to a level 2 qualification in the same or alternative sector, e.g. BTEC First Diploma or NVQ, or seek employment.
