Level Two | The Centre for Construction and Heritage Studies | Full-Time

Course Description
This course is intended for those who aim to gain employment in the electrical engineering sector. The qualification will help students to acquire basic competences within electrical engineering and to obtain first level qualifications before progressing to other levels. This qualification also forms an integral part of the new Modern Apprenticeship.

Course Content
The award will cover 8 units overall including 3 mandatory units which are demanded by the sector:
  • Using and Communicating Technical Information
  • Working Safely in an Electrical Engineering Environment
  • Working Efficiently and Effectively in Electrical Engineering
You must complete the 3 mandatory units plus 3 more of the optional units listed below:

Optional units may include:
  • Assembling and Testing Electrical Circuits
  • Maintaining Electrical Equipment/Systems
  • Wiring and Testing Electrical Equipment and Circuits
  • Wiring and Testing Electrical Panels/Componants Mouted in Enclosures
  • Forming and Assembling Electrical Cable Enclosure and Support Systems

Course Length and Study Pattern
You will be expected to attend college for approximately 3 days a week for 1 year.

Career Progression
Level 3 NVQ or full Advanced Apprenticeship
Full employment in the electrical sector
The majority of courses at the Centre are offered as Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeship in construction trades.

Assessment
You will be assessed throughout your course on your knowledge and practical ability. Your knowledge is assessed in theory sessions and towards the end of your course you will take two on-line assessments. Throughout your course you will also produce a portfolio of your completed work.
