Course aims:
This course is for students who might have MLD, EBD, ADHD, ASD, have been home educated and need qualifications, those who might not have done as well as expected with GCSEs and NEET.
Students on this course study a variety of assessed subjects designed to improve confidence, raise self esteem and develop good study and self management skills.
On this course you will receive a high level of academic and pastoral support, and be encouraged to think about progression.
Expectations on the course are high. You are expected to have full attendance and good timekeeping, as well as respect for other students.

Course content:
Students study a variety of core subjects as well as 2 vocational subjects. Literacy and Numeracy are embedded into all subjects.

Tutors:
All Tutors, Lecturers and support staff are highly skilled in the provision of these courses.

Assessment: All assessments are modular. A portfolio of work is produced throughout the year, and externally verified.

Awarding Body: Edexcel

Entry Requirements:
Students must have good basic literacy skills to be able to work at least at an E2 level. We expect students to be able to comply with the general rules of the college.
You will be aged 16-19.

Interview preparation:
All students are interviewed for suitability to the course.

Progression and links:
After successfully completing this course you may wish to progress onto one of the other qualifications on offer within the department such as Work Skills Certificate or Level 1 Vocational Studies.
Alternatively, if you wish to move into the workplace, the practical nature of this course gives you a wide range of skills and experience which will stand you in good stead for employment.

Vocational subjects are designed to give an experience of a working environment and specific subject knowledge.

If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you do not have to pay Tuition Fees, the College Registration, Awarding Body Registration or Exam/Assessment Fees. However, you will have to pay any Resource Fees. Under 19s entering Higher Education will have to pay full costs.
