Course content:
Take the first steps towards working in the sport and leisure industry, This practical course combines class-based study with sports activates.
Extends your advanced knowledge of the sport and leisure industry to prepare you for work at a managerial level or study at university/ key themes on this course include the principles of coaching, fitness and sports development based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. This course is a more intensive 18 unit version of the BTEC National Certificate covering a wider range of themes.
Course Structure:
The course is a combination of practical activity and theory sessions timetabled across 1.5 (Wednesday and half day Thursday afternoon) days in the week.
Course resources:
Specialist resources include a full sized sports hall, weight training facilities and sports science laboratory equipment. All staff have current vocational competence.
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous. You will build a portfolio of work and there is an external test.
Next step:
Continue onto a higher level course such as NVQ 3 and work in a sports environment.

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Approximately £30 for text books/materials. Appropriate sports clothing is essential for all practical work.
