About this course

This course is for school leavers aged 16-18 years. This course is suitable for students from the age of 16-18+. Candidates should have some experience of coaching or have a suitable level 1 sports or fitness qualification.

Sport Leadership Level 2 Award in Community Sports

Level: Level 2

Course content:
The Award develops vital leadership skills such as communication, organisation and motivation, whilst instilling the confidence and desire in people to make a difference within their own communities. The qualification is practical in nature, with an emphasis on learning through doing and applying knowledge, rather than though theory. The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership consists of eight units.
Unit 1: Contribute to organising and delivering a sports activity session,
Unit 2: Establish and maintain a safe sporting activity,
Unit 3: Understand the structure of sport and recreation at local, regional and national level,
Unit 4: Understand and lead fitness sessions,
Unit 5: Demonstrate principles and practice in running sporting events and competitions,
Unit 6: Demonstrate principles and practice in adapting sports activities,
Unit 7: Plan a series of appropriate sporting activities,
Unit 8: Demonstrate leadership skills in the community. All eight units must be completed. Unit 8 requires a minimum 10 hours of leadership to be completed by the candidate away from the centre; these hours are not included in the 35 Guided Learning Hours.

All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access. This included free internet access. Specialist resources include a full sized sports hall, weight training facilities and aerobic studio.

Practical assessment and completion of log book.

Further qualifications in sport/exercise such as the Higher Sports Leader Award or CYQ Certificate in Fitness Instructing (GYM)

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
Sports clothing and Whistle.
