Course programme
This course in contemporary furniture design and model making combines both studio and workshop activities. You will learn to understand concepts and create sketches, working up your ideas with the help of the tutors, and then moving on to model making. The outcome will be the creation of a scale model.
This is the perfect opportunity for you to practice how to convert your design ideas into three dimensional reality. It is about experimentation with concepts, but also about the practical side of design such as the basics of batch production processes and ergonomics.
Who should take this course?
- Both beginners wanting to try their hand at furniture design and those wanting to add work to their portfolio.
- Many students have used this course to support their applications for design degrees.
Level: All levels of experience are welcome, although it is better suited to the beginner rather then the practicing designer.
This is a practical design course focusing on design and making rather than on the history of furniture design, although there will be reference to it.
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older
