About this course

Although no formal qualifications are required, we are ideally looking for spoken English at Entry level 3, Application of Number E2 and basic ICT skills. You should have an in interest in starting a career in childcare. We'll assess whether this is the right course for you at an initial assessment and an informal interview.

Course Content:
The course will give you an introduction to childcare. Topics covered are as follows. Pregnancy and the responsible parent; Caring for young children 1 to 3 years 11 months; Playing and learning in the home 0 to 3 years 11 months.

If you want to begin a career in childcare then this would be a good place to start. You'll study childcare units and also key skills such as communications, numeracy and computer skills. The course will develop your awareness of equal opportunities and also your practical childcare skills. You'll have regular tutorials to support you throughout the course. Successful students will achieve E3 qualifications in basic skills and childcare.

Progression:
Although progression is not automatic, successful students have progressed onto further CACHE qualifications in Early Years. Alternatively you may choose to consider GNVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent courses.
