How it is Taught
AS General Studies is delivered as part of eStudies - a course using our virtual learning environment (Fronter) to develop information literacy and study skills. The requirements for Key Skills Level 3 Communication are included alongside AS General Studies so two national qualifications should be gained. Homework is not set though students have various online tasks including practice questions in preparation for the exam, and complete a portfolio of work for Key Skills. There is a continuous emphasis on developing transferable skills.
In the second year students attend one lesson a week. Homework is not set, though extension reading is recommended. There are no Key Skills requirements at this level, but students are expected to develop their thinking and analytical skills.
Discussions form a major part of most A2 lessons.
