One year AS, two years A Level

How will I be assessed?
Both AS and A level are assessed by written papers. AS Unit 1: 70% of total AS, 35% of A level. Two hours short and extended questions. Unit 2: 30% of total AS, 15% of A Level. Two hours structured skills and generic research/fieldwork questions. A Level Unit 3: 30% of total A Level. Two hours. structured short and extended questions and an essay. Unit 4: 20% of total A level. 1 hour 30 minutes (a) structured short and extended questions based on the candidates own fieldwork investigation (b) structured short and extended questions based on an advance information leaflet issued by AQA.
What can I do afterwards?
Geography combines well with many other subjects at A Level, and can lead on to many Higher Education courses and areas of employment including cartography, planning and other fields in the areas of environment and education.
Are there any additional costs involved?
You will be required to buy a course textbook costing £19.99 which is written specifically for the AQA AS specification. You will also be invited to subscribe to the Geographical Review magazine. A charge may be made for local fieldwork.
