Your Course
This course is suitable for those who have already studied German for 2 terms. The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking reading and writing. It aims to enable the students to understand and use German effectively for the purpose of practical communication, to develop some understanding of grammar and to offer insight into the culture of German speaking countries
All students will be registered for the OCR Asset Language [Breakthrough] award in listening to and understanding German at Beginners' level. The test will take place within the normal classroom environment.
The course book is 'Deutsch Plus 1' [BBC], units 4-10.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to:
· Using public transport and understanding directions
· Revise times and numbers 1-1000
· Say what you like and don't like
· Shop for clothes and food
· Talk about money
· Talk about past events [in the perfect tense]
· Obtain through assessment a recognised qualification in listening at Breakthrough level.
Your Tutor
Martina Schlauri is a native German speaker. She studied German and French Linguistics and Literature at the bilingual University of Freiburg, Switzerland. After completing her Masters, she obtained a teaching diploma at the same University. She is an experienced and dedicated teacher for different levels of German and French, having worked with both adults and teenagers. After teaching German to international students at the University of Freiburg she moved to Basel where she worked as a German and French teacher at a Sixth Form College for several years.

Tuition fees: £ 90
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
