Who is this course for?
This course if for you if you wish to work as a volunteer in a supervised capacity within a range of pre-school settings. You may already be a volunteer or may be a parent who wishes to get involved in a pre-school setting.

What are the entry requirements?
You will be assessed on your English and Maths skills at interview. You will need to provide a reference.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.

• Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 3

You can read longer pieces of writing and understand the main ideas without help. You can write longer pieces of writing of 100 words or more.
• Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 3

You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams to solve problems. You can add and subtract and do easy multiplication. You can use fractions and simple decimals.

What qualification will I receive?
Award in Getting Started in a Pre-School Setting.

You can go on to do work in a pre-school setting or progress on to the certificate in pre-school practice.

You will find out about different pre-school settings, how play helps a child to learn and develop and how to encourage children to play.
