Aim This 1 year course enables you to acquire the knowledge and practical skills essential to the TV and film make-up profession. The course is particularly suited to students who wish to obtain a grounding in basic hair design and media make-up skills before progressing on to the Level 3 National Award.
Content Topics studied on this course include:
· Nail treatments
· Fashion and photographic make-up
· Cosmetic make-up and eye treatments.

Although this is a highly intensive practical course you will be expected to spend time out of college hours undertaking appropriate reading/research, updating and reviewing of course materials as well as completing homework tasks. You will also be expected to complete some work experience activity in your own time.

Assessment is continuous throughout the course using a mixture of practical, oral and written methods plus an external test.

Progression/career opportunities
This course is particularly suitable for those students who wish to develop a solid foundation of skills before progressing on to the Level 3 National Award in Make-up (Theatre Production).
Alternatively, a wide variety of careers are available to successful students including TV, film, theatre, photographic studio work as well as working freelance on pop videos and other creative projects.

Extra information You will need to purchase a professional make-up artiste and hairdressing kit which will form the basis of your professional tools which you will use in your career. The cost of the kit will be discussed at interview.

Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
