Description
The Diploma is aimed at committed stylists and technicians. It is also ideal for those who require skills and knowledge updating. Hairdressing is an exciting business and there are many different opportunities. Students will be expected to work as part of a team within a salon environment.



Course Length
1 year (full-time).

What will I study?
You will develop your knowledge, understanding and skills including working in hairdressing, health & safety, consultation services, promoting products and services, cutting, styling and dressing, colouring, perming and contributing to the effective running of the business. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.



How will I learn?
You will learn in state-of-the-art salons, using industry standard equipment and high quality products and have access to the latest online learning materials delivered using Smartboards and plasma screen TVs. The course will be taught using a variety of approaches, these include; practical work, directed learning on computers, independent study and tutorials.

How will I be assessed?
All units are assessed throughout the course using a variety of methods including; observation, external written tests and online tests.

Where could it lead?
The Diploma in Hairdressing is used as a progression route to Hairdressing NVQ Level 3, employment as a Hairdresser or for career enhancement.
