This highly intensive non consecutive three day course is for journalists, researchers, producer/directors and other media professionals who are expected to collect good quality material for “budget-conscious programming”.
Aims of the course
- To demystifiy the HDV format and provides the basic skills that you’ll need to capture usable pictures and good quality sound.
- To learn about camera operation and the functions available. Subjects covered include: basic sound considerations, an introduction to microphones, how to set up for interviews, and how to film subjects talking and walking.
- Between days 2 and 3 of the course, you will receive an HDV camera kit for 1 day in order to go and shoot some footage. On day 3, your rushes will be reviewed with the tutor to identify any problems. The entire class learns from constructive critical review of collective results.
- Throughout the course, you will receive hands-on camera tuition, with the opportunity to practise what is taught. With the tutor you will explore the crafts of lighting, composition and shooting for the edit.
