VET was set up back in 1986 with a clear mission which still holds today.Back in the 80s Channel 4 was set up with a mandate to extend the range of broadcast television and support independent and diverse production. At the same time portable video equipment became available and the GLC saw how important it was that communities get access to it, and take control of representing themselves on screen.
