Summary
This level 2 course is for care workers involved in the day-to-day care of individuals and is designed to reflect the work of candidates who undertake health and social care activities whilst working with service users and their carers.
About the Course
The course is unit based and candidates must complete six units in total.
The four core units are:
* communicate with, and complete records for individuals
* Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
* Develop your knowledge and practice
* Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well being of individuals.
Candidates will select their final two units from a number of areas, to reflect their own work experience.
Students will select 2 optional units and will work on assignments that will help them understand why they are performing certain tasks in the workplace. These assignments will include discussion, role play, simulation and producing written work.
Candidates attend tuition for 2 hours a week at College and approximately 16 hours of assessment which will take place in their workplace over the year. Students will be expected to complete the NVQ within 1 year.
