What will I study?
This is a one year course and you will study six units in total:
· Preparing to give quality care.
· Communicating with service users in care settings.
· Practical caring.
· Hygiene and safety in care settings.
· Development and care of young children.
· Nutrition and cooking for health.

How is the course assessed?
There are no exams. All work is assessed through a series of assignment tasks which will be marked by your tutor and moderated by OCR. In order to achieve the qualification you must pass all six units.

What enrichment will there be?
Activities include:
· University trips.
· Diabetes event.
· Heartstart course run by the fire service.
· Community involvement - NHS forums.
· Edge Hill University visit.

What could I do next?
With a merit grade you can progress on to the advanced level course.
Alternatively, those who want to enter the workplace may do so at a trainee level and complete an NVQ at a level suitable to the job role.
