About this course
The applicant must be working in an appropriate care environment and suitably experienced to prove competence in a senior/management role. A suitable level of literacy is required to complete the written portfolio.

Course programme
Course Overview
This programme is for people in a senior/ manager position in a range of care settings. This programme is designed for candidates to work through a set of eight work-based units of competence under the guidance of the Tutor.
Course Structure
Although this course is distant learning it is a requirement that you meet with your assessor on a monthly basis. To support you through your award we will provide the following:
- Telephone/e-mail support and advice during office hours.
- Individual tutorials
- Library facilities with access to computers and the internet
- Access to the learning curve resources
- All work available on disk or CD
- Access to learning support/ study skills from our cross college team
Qualification Aims
By the end of the course, the student will have attained an advanced understanding of Health & Social Care within the work place alongside actual useful experience for use within their current job or potential new employment.
Assessments/Examinations
During interview candidates will be asked to complete a literacy assessment. Ongoing assessment of workplace practice and written portfolio will be required.
Candidates will be expected to work through a unit a month and present work on a regular basis. Monthly contact must be maintained with the tutor. Self-discipline is required and a commitment to take ownership of their own self-development and learning. This course is designed to be candidate led supported by the tutor.
