The Higher Diploma in Hair and Beauty is designed for you if you
have an interest in subjects such as hair care and styling, hand care and nails, and exploring skin care and make-up. The Diploma gives you a comprehensive understanding of the industry through the study of history, business and the science of hair and beauty.

In addition to ten days relevant work experience and a project
undertaken in Year 2, you will study the following topics:

· Safe and healthy working practices
· The world of hair and beauty
· The science of hair and beauty
· Communication and client care
· The history of hair and beauty in society
· The promotion and selling of products and services
· Salon business systems
· Exploring skin care and make-up
· Exploring hair care and styling
· Exploring hand care and nail art
· Creating an image based on a theme
· The art of colouring hair
· The art of photographic make-up
· Shaping and colouring eye brows
· Foot care.

The course will develop your personal learning, thinking skills and ability to work as part of a team. In addition to this you will also develop your analytical, creative, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

During the course you will have the opportunity to achieve additional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT as well as industry relevant
qualifications.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously during the course through a range of completed assignments, investigations, practical assessments
and an external exam.
