Hospitality - Higher Diploma
What will I study?
The Hugher Diploma in Hospitality has been developed specifically for the Hospitality/ Leisure and Tourism trade. It is a fantastic opportunity for young people to become part of a world class industry and to acquire valuable skills that can be used in many areas of work and most of all make a difference in the workplace.

How can I progress?
On completing the course students can progress to an Advanced Diploma (depending in your Diploma grade and GCSE result). Apply for an apprenticeship or employment within the Hospitality industry.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
These will be discussed with college tutors once students show an interest in the qualification.

Course Structure
Students will study, in detail, different aspects of the Hospitality industry. They will learn crucial skills that are required for the industry, for example, they will learn how to draw up a business plan, prepare a three course mean or maybe investigate the success of different loyalty incentive schemes, there are three parts of the Diploma: Principal Learning: Learners will study seven units which provide an overarching understanding of the Hospitality Industry, these are; Exploring the UK Hospitality Industry, Customer Service in Hospitality, Working in a Hospitality Team, Dealing with Costs and Income in Hospitality, Providing a Hospitality Service, Menu Planning and Design and finally, Food Preperation and Cooking. Generic Learning: This element of the Diploma includes; 20 days work related learning, Personal learning and thinking skills - students are expected to develop these skills throughout their programme of study, An extended project must be completed and finally, Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT at level 2.
